Aeolian Harp: A musical instrument consisting of an open box over which are stretched strings that sound when wind passes over them.
Ahimsa: Sanskrit term signifying the avoidance of violence.
Ananda: Sanskrit term for bliss.
Archetype: Original construct, examplary ideal, model or prototype.
Astrology: Knowledge on how to read our cosmic surrounings, particularly the plantes in relations to the stars, in order to assess the time and therefore the qualities and development of anything and everything taking birth at a particular moment.
Atma: The soul or higher self in Eastern traditions.
Bethel: A hallowed or holy place. A chapel for seaman. House of God.
Bliss: One of the essential properties of spirit. State of absolute peace, contentment and relaxation.
Cherub: A winged celestial being. One of the second order or angles.
Cit: Sanskrit term for pure consciousness.
Deva: Sanskrit for demigod or controlling deity.
Ekadasi: Eleventh lunar day of a fortnight in Hindu traditions. Mother of devotion. Special day when one performs fasting from grains and beans.
Equilnox: Either of two points on the celestial sphere where the eecliptic intersects the celestial equator. Either of the two times during a year when the sun crosses the celestial eqator and when the length of day and night are approximately equal: the vernal equinox and the autumal equinox.
Fairy: A tiny being in human form depicted as clever, mischievous and possessing magical powers.
Fairy Ring: A circle of mushrooms, marking the eriphery of underground mycilial growth.
Forgive: To excuse for a fault or offense; pardon. To renounce anger or resentment against. To absolve from payment. To forgive.
Halo: The aura of majesty or glory surrounding a person, thing, or event that is regarded with reverence, awe, or sentiment.
Ignorance: Condition of identyfing with the gross physical body and mind. One of the three gunas or qualities of material nature (Vedic literature).
Mystical: Relating to, seeking or experiencing direct communion with the ultimate reality or God. Having a spiritual reality beyond the material senses or intelligence.
Omnipotent: Having unlimited or universal power, authority, or force; all powerful. God.
Omnipresence: The fact of being present everywhere. To be present. God.
Ovates: The Druid caste was broken down into three areas: that of Ovate, Bard, and Druid. Ovate or Vates, as they are also often referred, were the young students who were in the first stage of the Druidic Philosophical Priesthood. Vates were given the symbolic color of earth, Green, which signified the period of youth years. Vates were to focus maintly on their powers of observation to take notice the effects nature had upon life and matter, thus the Vate became a student of the natural sciences.
Reincarnation: [Latin: taking flesh again], ocuppation by the spirit soul of a new body after death of it's former body. Some believe that the soul can take on lower or higher life forms. Transition times for this process vary according to different belief systems. Some doctrines teach that the goal of life is to end this cycle of birth and death, by reaching "nirvana" (residing in or merging with the "Brahma-jyoti" supreme effulgence of the supreme lord's body, or by travelling beyond this effulgence and reaching the luminous spiritual planets known as "Vaikunthas" (sanskrit: realm of no anxiety) the supreme abode, where the spirit soul can reside and play in his true eternal spiritual form, without ever having to come back to the temporary nature of this material cosmic manifestation. Acording to ancient sanskrit texts, the "jiva" or spirit soul's true nature is "sat-cit-ananda" (eternity-knowledge-bliss or essence-consciousness-bliss).
Sooth-sayer (n): A person who claims to be able to fortell events or predict the future: seer.
Starets: A respected spiritual adviser, often a monk or religious hermit in the Eastern Orthodox Church.
Yin: The passive female cosmic principle in Chinese dualistic philosophy. Moon, Shade, femininity.
